Mission Statement

The Waltham Housing Authority provides low-income families, seniors, and people with disabilities the opportunity to live in safe, decent, affordable and accessible housing. The WHA works in partnership with the City of Waltham, the Massachusetts Department of Housing & Community Development, HUD and local community organizations to support and promote the health, welfare and economic independence of WHA residents and to sustain a diverse and productive population in the Waltham Community.

May 5th, 2017 - Congresswoman Katherine Clark (MA-5) visited the Waltham Housing Authority to meet with Executive Director John Gollinger and tour federally subsidized housing units. Clark and Gollinger were also joined by Waltham Mayor Jeannette McCarthy, State Representatives Tom Stanley and John Lawn, and Waltham Housing Authority Assistant Executive Director Mark Johnson for a discussion on the agency’s efforts to help Waltham residents access affordable housing, as well as the potential implications of proposed budget cuts.

October 20th, 2016 - Waltham Housing Authority (WHA) Commissioner Kelly Durkee-Erwin has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts Chapter of the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (MassNAHRO).

Groundskeeper Laborer / Custodian - The Waltham Housing Authority is seeking applications for the position of Groundskeeper Laborer/ Custodian; qualified candidates should have knowledge and skill in both custodial and landscaping.
Landscaping:  The applicant must be able to operate or learn to operate all types of landscaping equipment including riding mowers, weed-whackers, chain-saws, pruning equipment, and hand tools. Knowledge and experience with maintaining gas operated equipment and their components are a plus. Proficient in tree trimming and use of aerial trucks is preferred.
Custodian:  Perform general cleaning in building common areas, exterior ground sites, vacant units, cleans and polishes floors and cleans restrooms etc. Knowledge of methods and practices used in janitorial or custodial work is required. Some heavy lifting, as well as experience in appartment maintenance skills such as cleaning and performing minor building/apartment repairs is preferred.
